Today we drove to Home Depot to buy a window air conditioner for our living room. We have been staying in our bedrooms lately because the rest of the house is too hot and humid. It's not much better outside, so leaving the doors open for circulation doesn't help very much.
We also went to Academy to buy clothes for exercise. We have been going for walks in the evenings. With the heat, we are sweaty by the time our walk is over. So, we have to change frequently. Of course, this means doing laundry more frequently. Or, if we have more outfits, we can hold off a bit.
While we were driving, I was wondering when the Dog Days of Summer start. Despite my complaining, we have not had the hottest days of summer thus far. We have been, mostly, under 100 degrees Fahrenheit. So, I was curious when we could expect temperatures to rise. As it turns out, the Dog Days of Summer are getting started. The season ends August 11.
I'm hoping that the "mild" weather continues for the rest of the year. I'd much rather have 95 degree weather than 105 degree weather. Especially with the humidity that we have in South Texas.
I need to cut the grass tomorrow, which I'm not looking forward to doing. We have had sporadic showers, lately, which has encouraged the grass to grow faster than usual. I can usually wait a couple of weeks. But, lately, I can't go more than a week. I think it's time to lay down some weed and feed. Some of the fast-growing stuff is definitely weeds. I've just about had enough of them. They have to go.
The air conditioner is doing well. The living room is livable. We can watch TV again. I hope the window unit is sufficient when the really hot days kick in.
The 4th of July weekend is upon us. Fortunately for me, I have Monday off. I may decide to have a cookout tomorrow. I think my family would enjoy some grilled food.
